Website information

Terms & conditions

These terms explain how you may use the CMC Electrical website. Separate written terms apply to electrical work that you book with us.

1. About these terms

These terms apply to your use of cmcelectricalsw.co.uk and the information, forms and links provided on it. By using the website, you agree to use it lawfully and in accordance with these terms.

They do not, by themselves, form a contract for electrical work. If you ask CMC Electrical to carry out work, the scope, price, payment arrangements and other project conditions will be set out separately in a written quotation, order or service agreement.

2. Who we are

The website is operated by CMC Electrical SW Ltd (company number 16088397), referred to in these terms as “CMC Electrical”, “we”, “us” or “our”.

Our contact address is 187 Woodford Avenue, Plymouth, PL7 4QU. You can contact us at info@cmcelectricalsw.co.uk or by telephone on 07581 297177.

3. Website information

Website content is provided for general information only. It is not an electrical design, inspection, diagnosis, safety assessment, technical instruction, quotation or promise that a particular service is suitable for your property or project.

Do not rely on website content as a substitute for a site assessment or advice from a suitably qualified person. If you have an electrical emergency or believe an installation is unsafe, do not use the website as an emergency response service; contact the appropriate emergency or utility service.

4. Services and service areas

Descriptions of services, projects and locations are indicative and may change. Any map or list of areas is approximate and does not guarantee that we can attend a particular address or accept a particular project.

Availability, suitability, scope and any relevant requirements are confirmed individually. Contact us before relying on a service description or service-area marker.

5. Enquiries and quotations

Submitting a contact form, requesting a quote or telephoning us is an enquiry only. It does not mean that we have accepted a job, reserved a date or entered into a contract.

A quotation is subject to the scope, assumptions, exclusions, price, validity period and other conditions stated in that quotation. A booking is confirmed only when we have accepted the work in writing, or when the relevant written project agreement says it is confirmed.

If the work required differs from the information supplied or conditions found on site, the proposed scope, price or timing may need to change. We will discuss any material change with you and obtain agreement before carrying out additional chargeable work, except where urgent action is reasonably necessary to address an immediate safety risk.

6. Your responsibilities when arranging work

Please provide accurate and complete information about the property, installation, requested work and any known access, safety or site restrictions. You are responsible for having authority to request work at the property and for arranging any permissions that are your responsibility.

For booked work, you must provide the access and facilities agreed in the project terms and tell us promptly about relevant hazards or changes. Any specific customer responsibilities will be confirmed in the quotation or project agreement.

7. Prices, invoices and payment

Prices and payment arrangements for work are those set out in the accepted quotation or project agreement. This website does not set a general call-out fee, deposit, cancellation charge, payment deadline or refund policy.

Please refer to your quotation, invoice and project terms for the arrangements that apply to your job. If anything is unclear, contact us before accepting the quotation.

8. Changes, delays and cancellations

Project dates and durations are agreed for the individual job. Access issues, changes requested by you, availability of materials, site conditions, safety concerns, or events outside reasonable control may affect the schedule. We will communicate material changes as soon as reasonably practicable.

If you need to change or cancel booked work, contact us as soon as possible. The process and any applicable charges will be governed by your project agreement and applicable law. Nothing in these terms removes any cancellation or other rights you have under consumer law. Where a consumer contract is made at a distance or away from our business premises, statutory cancellation rights may apply; any relevant information will be provided with the contract.

9. Carrying out electrical work

Work is carried out to the scope agreed for the project and applicable legal and safety requirements. Any inspection, test result, certificate, report, handover information or workmanship commitment will be provided where applicable to the agreed work and as stated in the project documents.

Do not assume that a particular certificate, notification, warranty or remedial item is included unless it is confirmed for your job. If you have a question about documents or completion arrangements, please raise it before accepting the quotation.

10. Website availability and security

We aim to keep the website available and its content useful, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free or secure access. We may update, suspend or withdraw any part of the website without notice.

You must not misuse the website, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with its operation, introduce malicious code, or use it in a way that is unlawful or could damage our systems or other users.

11. Copyright and use of content

Unless stated otherwise, website text, branding, graphics and photographs are owned by or used with permission by CMC Electrical. You may view and print pages for personal, non-commercial reference. You must not reproduce, adapt, publish or commercially exploit website content without our prior written permission, except where the law permits.

12. Third-party websites

The website may link to third-party websites or services for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, security or privacy practices. A link does not necessarily mean that we endorse the linked organisation or its services.

13. Privacy and cookies

Our Privacy policy explains how we handle personal information submitted through the website. Our Cookie policy explains how cookies and similar technologies are used.

14. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any rights and remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss arising solely from reliance on general website information instead of obtaining advice or a project-specific assessment. This does not affect any rights you may have under a contract for work or under applicable consumer law.

15. Changes and governing law

We may update these website terms from time to time. The version published on this page applies to your use of the website from its stated update date. Changes to a project contract will be handled under that contract.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, this does not take away any mandatory protections or rights that apply where you live.
