1. Who is responsible for your information?
CMC Electrical SW Ltd (company number 16088397) is the data controller for personal information collected through this website and in connection with your enquiry or our work. Our contact address is 187 Woodford Avenue, Plymouth, PL7 4QU.
You can contact us at info@cmcelectricalsw.co.uk or on 07581 297177 with a privacy question or request.
2. Personal information we collect
The information you provide depends on how you contact us. Contact and quote forms may collect:
- your name, email address and telephone number;
- customer type, requested service and preferred contact method;
- your project description and any other information you choose to include;
- for quote requests, the property or site address and postcode; and
- optional photographs you upload (up to five JPG, PNG or WebP files, maximum 3.5 MB combined per enquiry).
If you contact us by telephone or email, we may also keep the information in that correspondence and notes needed to respond or manage the enquiry.
When the site is accessed, hosting and security services may process technical information such as IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, referring page, timestamps and diagnostic or security logs. Our map loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap when it is near the visible part of the page; the tile provider receives the network request information described in its own privacy policy.
Please do not send payment-card details, passwords or sensitive personal information through the forms. If a photograph or project description includes information about another identifiable person, make sure you are entitled to share it with us.
3. Why we use information and our lawful bases
- To respond to a quote request or take steps you ask us to take before a contract: contact, project and site details are processed as necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
- To respond to general questions and manage communications: we process the information needed to reply and keep appropriate enquiry records on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating and administering the business (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To provide booked work and manage the customer relationship: we use relevant information as necessary to perform the contract (Article 6(1)(b)).
- For invoices, accounting, regulatory duties and legal claims: we use relevant records to comply with legal obligations and, where necessary, establish, exercise or defend legal claims (Articles 6(1)(c) and 6(1)(f)).
- For website delivery, troubleshooting and security: technical logs may be processed on the basis of legitimate interests in keeping the website available and protecting it against misuse (Article 6(1)(f)).
We do not use enquiry details for an advertising mailing list, and we do not make decisions about you solely by automated means.
4. How form submissions are handled
When you submit a contact or quote form, CMC saves the enquiry details, owner follow-up status and notes, and any uploaded photographs to a private Vercel Blob store so the team can refer back to the enquiry. Uploaded photographs are stored privately with that record. A notification email is also sent through Resend where email delivery is available; the email and any attachments may then be held in the business mailbox and correspondence records.
Images uploaded by CMC Electrical through the owner media manager (including project-gallery photos and images used on service or company pages) are stored in Vercel Blob and displayed publicly on the website. Do not upload an image unless CMC Electrical has the right to publish it. Avoid images showing identifiable people, private documents, vehicle registration numbers or a property address unless there is a clear reason and appropriate permission.
Our website is hosted and delivered using Vercel. Vercel may process technical request information and website content as part of providing hosting, delivery, reliability and security services. The map uses OpenStreetMap tiles; loading the map makes direct requests from your browser to the map tile service. These requests do not contain the information you enter in our enquiry forms.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed:
- with Resend to deliver form submissions to CMC Electrical;
- with Vercel to host, deliver and protect the website;
- with our business email provider so we can receive and manage enquiries;
- with professional advisers or public authorities where necessary to obtain advice, meet a legal requirement or handle a legal claim; and
- with a third-party service if you choose to follow an external link, such as Facebook or WhatsApp. That provider then processes information under its own terms and privacy notice.
These providers may process information in countries outside the UK. Where a restricted international transfer takes place, it must be covered by an appropriate safeguard permitted under UK data protection law. Provider arrangements and transfer safeguards should be checked periodically.
6. How long we keep information
We keep enquiry records, including owner notes and private photo attachments, only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, follow up on the requested work and maintain appropriate business records. If an enquiry leads to a job, relevant records may be retained for the customer relationship and for the period needed to meet legal, accounting, insurance or dispute-resolution requirements. We review records and securely delete them when they are no longer needed, unless the law requires longer retention.
Technical and security logs are retained according to the settings and retention periods of our hosting and service providers. You can ask us for further information about a particular record.
7. Security
We use reasonable measures to limit access to enquiry information and use service providers to deliver website and email functions. No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, so please do not send information that is not needed to deal with your enquiry.
8. Your UK GDPR rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to request access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, erasure, restriction of processing, or a copy in a portable format. You may also object to processing based on our legitimate interests. These rights are subject to legal conditions and exceptions.
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time; withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out lawfully. Our enquiry forms ask you to acknowledge this notice, but we do not rely on that acknowledgment as the lawful basis for handling a quote request.
To make a request, email info@cmcelectricalsw.co.uk. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity. We normally respond within one month, subject to any lawful extension or exception.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). You can find out how on the ICO website. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first.
9. Cookies and external services
We do not currently configure analytics or advertising cookies in the website code. The map makes separate requests to OpenStreetMap when it loads. Read our Cookie policy for more detail on storage and third-party requests. Provider practices may change, so review their notices when using their services.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if our information handling or website services change. The current version will be published on this page. If a change requires a new notice or consent, we will take the steps required by law.
